Are you ready for a Challenge?
In the year 2015, Maliyadeva College Astronomical Society, Sri Lanka descended into the next level of astronomy by creating a historical milestone in school astronomy of Sri Lanka parallel to the APK Thilakarathne memorial quiz competition by introducing AUDAX, The first-ever overnight practical astronomy competition. AUDAX is currently one of the leading astronomy competitions on the island.
With the current circumstances of the COVID-19 outbreak, we will not be able to host the overnight practical competition as former years.
The APK Thilakarathne Memorial Space Challenge organized by Maliyadeva College Astronomical Society is happening as an online astronomy quiz this year on the 1st of June 2020.

- School Category - For school astronomical societies
- Open Category - For the university teams (Government and Pvt) , Past members of school astronomical societies who like to represent the school again and school and university students from foreign countries

Participants are allowed to communicate with other team members during the challenge using any media they prefer.
Please note that the participants will not be provided with any media of communication on our behalf.
When the competition starts, you will be redirected to the competition Portal.
You are allowed to submit the answers only within the specified time period.Please note that answers submitted outside the allocated time period won't be accepted
The competition includes the following rounds.
Viva Round
A participant per team will be selected randomly for a VIVA round in the middle of the quiz. The preferred medium of communication will be discussed prior to the competition.

We are the stardust brought to life, then empowered by the universe to figure itself out–and we have only just begun. Cosmology is the key to it.
Observation
Astronomy isn't just based on theory and concepts. Observational astronomy helps us to bring the truth of the universe to our eyes.
Rocketry
Mankind won't survive unless we lay our hands beyond the Earth. Rocketry paves the way towards it.

Is there an age limit for open category?
Participants for open category must be above 20 years by 31st of December 2020. (Excluding foreign teams) There shouldn't be any graduates in the teams.

When will the competition start?
The Competition will commence on 1st of June 2020 at 00 00 H (+ 5 30 GMT)

From which category, foreign teams should register?
All the foreign teams should register under open category. The School Category is only for Sri Lankan schools.

How many teams are allowed from a single school?
A maximum number of 4 teams (with 4 members each) can participate under the School Category from a single school.

Can participants communicate with their team members ?
Yes. Each participant can communicate with Team members via any method they prefer. Any misuse of those facilities may result in disqualification of the team. Please Note that you won't be provided with any media of communication on our behalf.
